Link a parent and approve the link
A parent sees nothing about a child until you have approved the link between them. Approval is the safeguarding gate, and it is yours.
Steps
- Open the player and scroll to Family and account.
- To invite someone new, use Invite by email with As set to Parent and press Send invite.
- To connect a parent who has already registered, use Link a parent who has already registered and press Link parent.
- When a link is waiting, it shows as Awaiting approval. Press Approve or Reject.
Good to know
- An unapproved link carries no data at all: the parent sees the child's name and nothing else, no sessions, no scores, no consents.
- Pending links also appear in the notifications bell so they do not sit forgotten.
- Every approval and rejection is recorded in the audit trail.
- At 18, parental access ends automatically. Approved links expire on the birthday, and about 30 days before it the parents are emailed to explain why. The young person can invite a parent back afterwards.
- Only a linked, approved parent can be messaged about an under-18, and only they can act on the child's behalf in the portal.
